[SNES] Dreams of a Lost Hamlet

By Mortistar on January 28, 2018 8:56 pm

Onto week 4! Another week of failed promises, still haven't managed to get anything for LSDJ done. It's been so busy in general, that I started this piece 4 hours before the deadline. I had this little medieval melody stuck in my head and I remembered I had "C700" in my plugin library. If any of you don't know, C700 is essentially a SNES instrument sampler and it's bloody good at what it does, emulating both the samples ripped from .SPC files (SNES Music Files) and the hardware reverb the SNES is known for. So after a few hours of tinkering with different instruments, I finally have a looped piece to upload. Hope you guys like the oldskool RPG vibe and I'll see you again in the next week!

very nice melody, you nailed the vibe heart

An oldskool RPG, about midway into the game, you come across this quaint village. There is a bard! and this is what he plays. Retro on all fronts! nice work! love it!

Like wisefire said, this really reminds me of something from an RPG. Really great job on this one! I love music like this big_smile

I'm loving how much soundtrack stuff I'm finding people are doing big_smile This is really great! I'm on a midi bender atm, running it through my Yamaha MU15 big_smile

I think you tried a little too hard to make it loop and now it doesn't end naturally kinda like ending a se
ntence like this. If you move the first intro bit to the end, maybe retool the intro slightly, it becomes much less jarring even while looped.

Cheers, I'll definitely keep it in mind! Was pretty rushed last week and obviously it shows in how I lazily looped it, I really appreciate your critique heart

Pretty nice mixing for snes. I wish the main instrument was a flute, but every works really well and the main instrument you have now fits perfectly into the folklore feeling im getting.

How did I mis this last week? Man I'm such a sucker for JRPG SNES soundtracks. Love thisssss!
